T-5 TRANSMISSION INTO A 65-68 MUSTANG Parts Required To Swap A T-5 Into an Automatic Equipped 65-66 Mustang T-5 bellhousing, T-5 motor plate (the plate that goes between the engine and bellhousing), 157 tooth 5.0 flywheel rebalanced for the 28oz 289/302/351W balance, 10.5" diaphragm clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing, roll pins that index the pressure plate to the flywheel, metric bolts to attach pressure plate to flywheel, longer bolts to attach flywheel to crankshaft, bearing for rear of crankshaft - to fit the T-5 input shaft, T-5 cable type clutch release fork, clutch release fork pivot stud, dust cover for the bellhousing/cable, T-5 transmission, speedometer gear, (speedo cable from 3 speed or C-4 will fit fine) , adjustable cable from a Fox body 87-93 Mustang, a MustangSteve cable quadrant for your clutch pedal, a firewall stop for the cable housing, the clutch pedal, the bolt-on stop for the clutch pedal (bolts to the pedal hanger) ,a manual brake pedal, the shifter for the T-5, a lower boot for the shifter so it can seal to the tranny tunnel, an upper shifter boot, some rewiring of your backup lights and neutral safety switch. You will likely need a 1/2" shorter driveshaft and a custom crossmember for the T-5, plus some revisions to your e-brake cable and possibly the exhaust system. You will also need 3 quarts of Dexron III fluid for the T-5. Also will need longer 7/16" bolts to attach the bellhosing to the block, plus the metric bolts that hold the T-5 to the bellhousing. One bit of good news...Your C-4 starter will bolt up and work just fine! My suggestion for the shifter is to use the original shifter mount and weld a swap meet Hurst handle (or original Mustang shifter) to the shifter stub. I spent big bucks for a Hurst T-5 shifter and the stocker on my daughter's LX shifts MUCH SMOOTHER, although a bit more vague. Don't forget the MustangSteve clutch pedal bearing conversion to make it all work smoothly. NEED THE PARTS? CLICK HERE |
